When I first started training in San Da Jiujitsu, I was in such terrible shape mentally and physically. The mental part was being consistent and dedicating myself to just show up for class consistently. We all have so much going on in our regular lives, and to take time and submit takes a lot, but thanks to all of Professor Pritchett's positive words, it's been a blessing. I started training 7 years ago, and since then I have dropped so much weight just by committing myself and staying consistent.
SanDa JiuJitsu means "free striking." To me it also means Free Spirit, Free Thinking and Accountability. I thought the art was like boxing, but quickly found out that there are similarities, but are nothing alike. This art form has brought unity and peace to my life, as well connecting to other people....inside and outside of the dojo. Learning this art is not just for the body, but the mind and soul as well, to the point that my godson has also joined, and I never thought I would see that day.
Enter SanDa JiuJitsu in my life at the age of 29 as I was exiting my professional playing career. Now, at the age of 34 and testing for my Brown belt, it's clear that this art and training environment has changed me for the better in the following ways. Sports is just mind and body, while SanDa is mind, body and spirit. To take the action on aligning and centering myself in mind, body and spirit has had a ripple effect of positivity, growth, gratitude, peace, joy and love. Duty, discipline, accountability and focus have improved my relationships and professional career. I have a duty and responsibility to my family, but most importantly to myself. I must remain on the path of self mastery in order to remain centered and fulfilled in this life. This art gives me peace of mind that I can protect myself and my family if need be. If i need to whoop someone there's no need to get upset about it. I am forever grateful to SanDa for helping me to discover who I am really am, and giving me the tools to use my frequency to become even more of who I am, while seeking to help others.
I started my SanDa journey back in 2018. I was working full-time and preparing for the birth of my first child. The training brought structure to my life. Structure that was necessary for me to take on fatherhood and the responsibilities that come with it. Since the start of my training i have lost loved ones, relationships, money, jobs, etc....but since the start of my SanDa journey I have gained the discipline, focus and accountability to conquer any obstacle in my way. SanDa is a way of Life. SanDa is a part of my spirit. I, along with my brothers and sisters in SanDa, are prepared for Life. I will never stop training. "The Destination is in the Journey."
